Facebook ruined my day

Not really. It was more like me ruining my own day. About half an hour into driving our son back to Montreal for his final semester my wife suggested to use Facebook messenger for family chats instead of WhatsApp. She didn’t even finish her sentence and I blurted out “No way!” In a split second a friendly chat turned into a crucial conversation. One, I must say, I didn’t handle well.

Failure

I recently read the book “The 15 Invaluable Laws of Growth” from John C. Maxwell. It is a great book with many valuable thoughts about growth and personal development. Among other things, he writes that failure doesn’t define one, which made me think of how I respond when I do something wrong. In my previous job I tried to rewrite a product and the project failed (I have a draft article that I will also post some day).

A half-empty glass kind of guy

We had a very nice weekend and spent almost a full day on Saturday as a family together, which is not that common any more since our son left for college. We have somewhat of a tradition to either drive up or down between Portsmouth, NH to Cape Elizabeth, ME. Along the way we do some Antique shopping and have a lobster at Two Lights point on Cape Elizabeth. The week leading up to it and also on the way I made several jokes (at least I think they are funny) that point out or play on the negative in that moment.

WIP Power

I’m on my way to work and today starts a new sprint, which means we plan it, but also review the statistics and results of the last sprint. I haven’t looked at the numbers yet, but they will be good. We got all, or at at least almost all of the planned work done. That would be now the 4th good sprint in a row and last week we went for a beer after work to celebrate the successful three prior sprints.

This blog was meant to be about coding, management and Christianity. Lately it seems to turn more into thoughts about Christianity and how they apply to my life. At work I’m working on a prototype for an ETL solutions and I wanted to write about some of the challenges that go along with it. However, this post will be more on the spiritual side again. Maybe something technical next week.
